Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro

Day 1: Machame Village to Machame Camp (10,000 ft)
- Depart from Moshi/Arusha
- Register at Machame Gate
- Trek through rainforest to Machame Camp

Day 2: Machame Camp to Shira Camp (12,500 ft)
- Trek above the forest zone through heather and moorland
- Spectacular views of Kibo peak
- Arrive at Shira Camp on the plateau

Day 3: Shira Plateau to Barranco Camp (13,000 ft)
- Acclimatisation day: hike to Lava Tower (15,000 ft) then descend to Barranco Camp
- Pass through the Highland Desert zone

Day 4: Barranco Camp to Barafu (13,000 ft)
- Climb the Barranco Wall - a steep but non-technical ascent with spectacular views
- Continue to Karanga or directly to Barafu base camp

Day 5: Barafu Camp to Summit and Descent to Mweka Camp (19,430 ft)
- Midnight start - ascend through the arctic zone to Stella Point then Uhuru Peak (5,895 m)
- Witness sunrise from the Roof of Africa
- Descend to Mweka Camp for overnight

Day 6: Mweka Camp to Park Entrance Gate
- Final descent through the rainforest
- Certificate presentation at the gate
- Transfer back to Moshi/Arusha
